Participated in a large government-sponsored study of ecological management
(The 21st century center of excellence program: Environmental Risk management for Bio/Eco-systems in East Asia), which is what introduced me to the topic of mountain forest and urban environmental analysis. This project entailed a wide variety of map design and creation to support data collection and analysis in both rural mountain and urban areas, and organizing the multivariate data collected and analyzed into easy to understand formats for the general public and government agencies.

EDUCATION
Ph. D and M. S. (major: Environmental Management), Yokohama National University.
Managed numerous large-scale GIS projects for urban disaster preparedness and response, particularly for earthquakes and landslides in urban areas in Japan. All of my graduate study regarding disaster management was conducted with prefectural and municipal governments, private businesses, and extended beyond academia to include many private and public stakeholders.

Played in national windsurfing competition (Co-captain, Varsity windsurfing team); Obtained second-class snowboarder certificated by Japan Snowboarding Association.
